What is Omeprazole?

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid to relieve heartburn and heal acid-related damage.

How it works

It blocks the gastric proton pump (H+/K+ ATPase) on stomach lining cells, sharply decreasing acid production for 24 hours or more.

• Frequent heartburn or GERD
• Healing stomach or duodenal ulcers
• Protecting the stomach in people who must take NSAIDs
