What is Dapagliflozin?
Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood sugar and offers heart and kidney protection for many people with type 2 diabetes or heart failure.
How it works
It inhibits SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubule, causing glucose to be excreted in urine along with mild natriuresis and diuresis.
Common uses
- Glycemic control in type 2 diabetes
- Reducing hospitalizations for heart failure, even without diabetes
- Slowing decline in chronic kidney disease when eligible
